The O’Malley Family purchased the Historic property dating to 1740 and known as “Rock Creek Farm” in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania in 2000.
They quickly fell in love with their property, the town, and it’s people. As their sons grew up and both became engaged they realized it was time to share their love of this beautiful barn. The 87 acre working farm is conveniently located off of Route 15 at the Taneytown Road exit. The large property offers close proximity to the Historic Battlefield, Hotels and a broad range of services allowing guests many options of lodging and entertainment.
The large 5000 square foot “Bank Barn” was built in the late 19th Century after the original barn on the property burned. The ground level, built of stone features horse stalls and the top, originally for storing hay, has been totally restored as a rental Venue.
The extensive renovation of the Barn began in early 2016.
It now features wide plank pine floors, a spectacular large bar with hand hammered copper top that is faced in stone, two large lofts with staircase access, and four hand crafted wagon wheel chandeliers. The last addition was a very large Trex Deck with staircase leading down to a spacious sodded lawn. All of this overlooks a two acre pond with fountain.
The 3,000 square foot stone farmhouse was originally built in the 1740’s and has been added onto over the years. Of special note, like many Historic houses in the area, it was used as a field hospital for the many wounded in battle during the Civil War.
