This past year has been FULL of days, evenings, and weekends working on the barn. We’ve had a lot of help from friends and neighbors, but it has come out spectacularly. Here’s the run down of what we’ve been able to accomplish!
We completely tore down the hay lofts and rebuilt them, reusing the wood on the stairs along with locally sourced rough cut lumber. The floors were lightly stained and coated for protection – it is a barn after all! Lots of new globe lights were added and the old ones got a cleaning.
The bar! The outside is faced in stone and the top is hand-hammered copper with resin. The lights over it are on dimmer switches and we have lots of storage back there! The bar measures about 30 feet and definitely is a focal point of the barn.
The deck is finally complete! We have even added lighting in it that turns on at dusk. We added planters next to the 12 foot wide stairs which are currently full of beautiful fall mums.
